Learning Resources

Interested in learning Ruby on Rails? Can’t find too many good Ruby on Rails tutorials? We’ve compiled a list of the best materials to learn Ruby on Rails–sites, books and eBooks, and so on! If you feel there’s an omission here (like your Ruby on Rails site? ;)) drop us an email and let us know so we can add it.

Websites

Looking for some good, core websites which you can frequent in order to learn Ruby on Rails inside and out like a pro? Listed below are the best sites to learn Ruby on Rails (after Google, that is) that we’ve found.

  • RailsRocket: Our very own Ruby on Rails community website! Can’t find the topic you want? Try searching; for the very brave, why not contribute a few articles, too?

Forums

Got a question about some Rails functionality? Not sure how to do something, or what’s the best way to do it? Try posting your questions on some forums to get an answer!

  • Rails Forum: A busy Ruby on Rails forum trawled by some very seriously knowledgeable people. You can ask virtually whatever you want–they have several different forum categories–and you usually get a correct, helpful response in a day or less.
  • Ruby on Rails: Talk: A google-group dedicated to Ruby on Rails. While it is busy and followed by some very bright people, responses are generally slow (if at all) and tracking if you have any responses is a bit tedious; still, a good, solid resource.

eBooks

For the serious and determined learners, books can go a long, long way. You can quickly learn a topic (or range of topics) in great depth in a short amount of time. We recommend these eBooks:
